A RARE 1963 EGG WITH FOOTSTOOL
BY ARNE JACOBSEN
Architect Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971) designed the ‘Egg’ chair in 1958 for the Royal SAS hotel in Copenhagen. It’s in production since then and probably the most known piece of midcentury design in the world.
The exciting thing about our example is that it’s a signed 1963 edition, making it a true collector’s item and a highly decorative work of art, also because it has its accompanying footstool.
Because of its age it has some porous foam, but the original black leather is in very good patinated condition, with holes or tears.
