VERY RARE 1ST EDITION SOFA FJ53
BY FINN JUHL
Finn Juhl (1912-1989) is considered to be one of the most important furniture designers and is recognised as one of the founding fathers of the international success of Danish Modern.
While studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he was hired by the famous architect Vilhelm Lauritzen before opening his own design studio in 1945.
A lot of his designs have an organic aspect, like this small FJ53 sofa. The piece was designed in 1953 and is a 1st edition by the original cabinetmaker Niels Vodder, signed with a burnmark under the seat.
The FJ53 is professionally reupholstered in DK based on the original two-tone fabric, giving it a mint condition. No need to say that this a extraordinary piece with a high value.
